  • Chaturanga
I incorporate #chaturanga in my daily workouts. Either as part of my vinyasa or as part of my core workout. I am not a yogini and I have to work really hard on my flexibility as I am naturally very tight. But yoga moves are great for rejuvenation and even people who don't practice yoga regularly or have never tried it would definitely benefit from it. Even if it is just something as simple as a breathing exercise. 
The way I incorporate chaturanga in my workouts is taken from dynamic yoga. I hold the pose for a prolonged period of time, alternating leg lifts. I also move from here to a high plank and back, then I stomp my feet, move my hips from side to side and up and down without moving the feet. I also do pulses in this pose for a prolonged period of time. It works the core and the triceps.

  • Organic fruit for breakfast.
I have been looking into food combinations for maximum nutrient absorption and there is a dividing opinion whether we should eat fruit together with some healthy fats (like nuts or cheese) or we should not combine it with anything at all. One common point that I came across though was that it is best for us to eat fruit in the morning (or before noon) and we should eat it before our main food (breakfast or lunch). This is because of fermentation of fruit in our digestive system and its sugar content.
Certain diets don't allow sweet fruit like apricots and cherries but I am a fruitarian at heart more than anything (well, a chocoholic too) so I could not ever follow those diets and be a happy girl.
I have been reading the dirty and the clean lists for fruit and vegetables and cherries, apricots and blueberries are all on the dirty list. This means that we should only eat them when they are organic. I was so happy to see that <a href=/user/riverford/1>@riverford</a> was selling these super yummy juicy sweet organic apricots that I am going to get 2 more boxes for next week. Also, <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> is selling these really juicy and delicious organic cherries at the moment so, lucky me! As for blueberries, I always get them organic or wild and these are also from <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> .

  • Tiger nuts iced mocha 
I made this yesterday and will be making it every sunny day as it is so yummy.
First I made the tiger nut milk, which is the sweetest, creamiest non dairy milk. I soaked some <a href=/user/naviorganics/1>@naviorganics</a> #tigernuts or #chufa in the water overnight and simply blended them in the morning and strained through a piece of cheese cloth. I am going to use the pulp for my hair mask and scrub and post about it later.
Tiger nuts are actually tubers and lovely Spanish #horchata is made from them. They can help with blood circulation and prevent thrombosis. They are rich in Vitamin C, E, phosphorus and potassium. 
Iced mocha:
I mixed together 1 cup of tiger nut milk and 1 espresso and put in the freezer for about 4 hours.
Then I made 2 more espresso shots and blended together:
The frozen tiger nut coffee
2 espresso shots
2 Tbs of <a href=/user/adunaworld/1>@adunaworld</a> raw cacao 
1 Tbs of maple syrup 
Pinch of Himalayan salt
1/4 of freshly scraped vanilla bean pod 
1/2 cup of ice cubes 
It made 2 generous servings which I then sprinkled with some cacao nibs <a href=/user/sevenhillswholefoods/1>@sevenhillswholefoods</a>

I hope these sunny days last longer or come back again and again! 
Doing my workouts on the terrace feels great. Welcoming the day with some sun salutations and thanking the sun for shining with some gentle core workout. I did a 30 minute weights training and body conditioning workout before my dinner and will do 20 minutes of gentle yoga and band stretches before bedtime.

  • Al fresco lunch. Grilled portobello mushrooms and mixed sprouts salad.
I enjoyed this lunch with my daughter today in our garden. It took just about 5 minutes to prepare. 
Portobello mushrooms <a href=/user/riverford/1>@riverford</a> lightly grilled in olive oil with salt and pepper.
Mixed sprouts salad:
1 packet of organic mixed sprouts <a href=/user/riverford/1>@riverford</a> 
1 packet of organic cooked beets <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> 
1 can of organic red kidney beans <a href=/user/bionaorganic/1>@bionaorganic</a> 
1 organic red onion <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> 
Dressing:

1 tsp of raw honey

Himalayan salt and pepper.

We also had some icy water infused with fresh rosemary, orange and lemon.

  • Brain power porridge!
My daughter is doing her GCSEs at the moment so I created a breakfast that would give her fast and slow releasing energy and would keep her brain stimulated.
1 cup of barley flakes soaked in 1 cup freshly made almond milk and  1/4 tsp of apple cider vinegar overnight.
1 cup of freshly made almond milk
pinch of Himalayan salt
I cooked this for 5 minutes and then added:
2 tsp of coconut oil <a href=/user/nutiva/1>@nutiva</a> 
1 tsp of raw bee pollen honey <a href=/user/rawartisanhoney/1>@rawartisanhoney</a> 
1 Tbs of inulin powder
1 Tbs hemp seeds <a href=/user/sevenhillswholefoods/1>@sevenhillswholefoods</a> 
I stirred everything in and added some brain powering organic walnuts <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a>, organic berries <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a>, melon balls and shredded coconuts <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> .
There is a reason why all those ingredients were in the porridge. I wanted all the nutrients to be well balanced and properly absorbed. 
It was a lot of porridge. My daughter could only eat half of it and the other half is going to be for me, after I am done with my intermittent fasting period this morning. 
These sunny warm mornings are incredible!

  • Stuffed courgette flowers and other oven roasted goodies.
I bought some organic round baby courgettes, courgette flowers, tomatoes and basil at the market.
I had some mushrooms, asparagus and cooked quinoa left and I decided to make this yummy dinner.
First I prepared the stuffing:
1 cup of cooked quinoa <a href=/user/quinolauk/1>@quinolauk</a> 
3 chopped mushrooms <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> 
3 pressed garlic cloves 
2 chopped tomatoes 
1 chopped red onion <a href=/user/tescofood/1>@tescofood</a> 1/2 cup of chopped fresh basil
Juice from 1 lemon
2 Tbs of nutritional yeast <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> 
1 chopped chilli <a href=/user/riverford/1>@riverford</a> 
1 tsp cayenne pepper 
Salt and pepper 
Then I roasted the following in the oven preheated to 200 degrees C for 20 minutes:
Courgette flowers stuffed with the quinoa stuffing 
Cut round baby courgette 
1 sliced red onion
About 6 garlic cloves
Asparagus <a href=/user/waitrose/1>@waitrose</a> 
Sliced tomatoes 
I rubbed them with olive oil and sprinkled additional nutritional yeast over them.
There was some stuffing left so I served it as a side dish.
It was so delicious!

This is one of my favourite smoothies on a hot sunny day. I drank about 1/2 l of this yesterday and there is more waiting for me in the refrigerator for today. It is refreshing, hydrating, nourishing and delicious!
I have been on a watermelon diet since I have been a little girl. I was born with a defective kidney and watermelon was actually what my old communistic doctor prescribed me to eat instead of pills. I was scheduled to have a surgery with an extremely high chance of losing both kidneys. This might sound naive, but watermelon saved my life 😀❤. I used to eat about 1/2 of one every single day whenever it was in season. It flushed my kidneys and hydrated me. Watermelon is also rich in lycopene and we should be eating lycopene-rich food during sunny days to protect us against sunburn. Watermelon also contains amino acids that can ease muscle pain, which makes it an ideal post workout drink or snack. More of this compound is found in the rind. So when I scraped my watermelon for this smoothie, I dug really deep. I have read on <a href=/user/drmercola/1>@drmercola</a> website that this amino acid is converted into arginine in our kidneys which is important for heart and immune system health. Perhaps this was the reason for my childhood watermelon cure. 🙂
Recipe:
3/4 of a medium size watermelon 
1 cup of coconut water
1 Tbs baobab <a href=/user/adunaworld/1>@adunaworld</a> 
1 Tbs lucuma <a href=/user/naturya/1>@naturya</a> 
1 frozen banana 
1 frozen papaya <a href=/user/waitrose/1>@waitrose</a> 
Juice from 1 lemon 
Then I added chia seeds <a href=/user/sevenhillswholefoods/1>@sevenhillswholefoods</a> and coconut flakes <a href=/user/wholefoods./1>@wholefoods.</a>

  • I have been going through a lot lately but exercising helped me tremendously to cope with my grief, to maintain my mental clarity and both physical and psychological strength. I didn't follow any specific fitness routine, as I have been traveling back and forth between London and Slovakia and to other parts of the world since August last year. There were many sleepless nights and emotionally draining days and I took many days off from any exercise altogether. But I never gave it up for more than a week completely. Now I want to get back into some kind of routine. So for the next month I will be doing a short 20 minute TRX workout 3 times a week in addition to whatever else I will be able to fit into my schedule. I took some pictures before I started today and I am extremely curious to see if I change my muscle definition with this.
I hope these sunny days will last for a long time. I just felt a burst of energy and motivation waking up this morning and don't want it to go away!

Today I walked through London for many hours and I am just about to do 30 minutes of yoga and stretching now; sometimes it is just this and sometimes more but I feel great overall ❤️

Happy National Vegetarian Week and Food Revolution weekend! 
Making colourful and creative food with your children or your friends makes food much more interesting! I made these with my daughter this morning.
I bought the ripest sweetest papayas in <a href=/user/waitrose/1>@waitrose</a> and when we were preparing some for our smoothie this morning we wanted to try them on our toasts as well.
We spread some <a href=/user/profusionorganic/1>@profusionorganic</a> sprouted hemp seed butter and <a href=/user/bionaorganic/1>@bionaorganic</a> coconut cream on one toast, sprinkled it with <a href=/user/sevenhillswholefoods/1>@sevenhillswholefoods</a> hemp seeds, <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> shredded coconut and a little bit of raw heather flower honey. For the second toast we used <a href=/user/meridianfoods/1>@meridianfoods</a> almond butter, split it in half and put bananas and <a href=/user/sevenhillswholefoods/1>@sevenhillswholefoods</a> cacao nibs and raw honey on one and papaya, coconut flakes, <a href=/user/therawchocolatecompany/1>@therawchocolatecompany</a> acai powder, sunflower seeds and honey on another.   • Foraging for food.
Christine <a href=/user/conscious_cooking/1>@conscious_cooking</a> invited me to join the #foodrevolution. Over the weekend many of us on IG are posting about what food revolution means to us. Jamie Oliver <a href=/user/jamieoliver/1>@jamieoliver</a> started this movement and it has ambassadors like Bettina <a href=/user/bettinas_kitchen/1>@bettinas_kitchen</a> who spread the word about the importance of cooking healthy food with children and offering children healthy food at school.
Food and health are very important to me. I grew up on homemade cooking, on vegetables and fruit growing in our garden. My mother and my grandmother were teaching me how to do gardening and how to forage. And now, being a mother myself, I am trying to do the same with my daughter. Even though living in London is not the same as in the countryside. I believe that every child should learn how to plant a seed and see it growing. I also believe that one of the best ways to combine fun and learning and doing a family activity is to go out and forage for food. There is so much that nature offers to us completely for free. When children get involved in such activity, they will feel closer to their food and appreciate it more.
I found these mushrooms with my mother and we cooked them just 1/2 hour after they were picked. I posted a recipe for my mushroom toast a couple of weeks ago.

  • Spicy miso omelette with asparagus, kale, tomatoes and mushrooms. Served with fresh chillies and home made ketchup.
My friend <a href=/user/baliboosta/1>@baliboosta</a> was talking about how much better an omelette tastes in an iron pan. Reading her post, I had to quickly make some for myself because it seriously does taste better made in the skillet. My favourite omelette is a leftover omelette and because we are still in asparagus season, I had to put some in. British asparagus tastes great this year! I eat it daily because it is delicious and nutritious.
I am trying to add an extra half an hour to my intermittent fasting whenever I can. It is hard for me as I love to eat and I could eat all day long. Today I am going for 15 hours of not eating between dinner and breakfast. I just drink a coffee, tea and lemon water. I am heading to the gym for my #bodycombat class and I prepared this omelette ahead, so I can eat it as soon as I get home. Hopefully it will not be dry and cold by them!
For the omelette I whisked together:
4 eggs
1 Tbs sweet miso paste <a href=/user/clearspringuk/1>@clearspringuk</a> 
1 tsp cayenne pepper 
1 tsp unrefined sea salt <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> 
Black pepper 
Then I added 1 cup of chopped cavalo nero kale, whisked until the kale was combined and placed everything in the preheated skillet rubbed with olive oil. I placed 3 stalks of asparagus, 1 tomato and 2 mushrooms on the top of it and cooked it for about 3 minutes. Then I placed the skillet in the preheated oven and cooked the omelette for about 5 minutes.
Finally I added a chilli and my homemade ketchup. I can't wait to share this with my family.

  • Making artichokes for dinner.
My favourite way to eat artichokes is to steam cook them in a little bit of water, wine, slices of 1 lemon, a tsp of black pepper corns and garlic cloves which are thinly sliced and placed randomly inside of the artichokes (about 2 cloves per artichoke). I cook them on a very low heat, regularly adding water, just so the base is always in liquid, for about 1 hour, covered with lid. Then we eat with a balsamic vinaigrette.
Artichokes are great for rejuvenation. They support digestive health, the cardiovascular system and the liver, and they are full of antioxidants and other nutrients. And they taste really yummy as well!

  • Rainy morning leftover coconut smoothie with ashwaghanda.
I had some cashew milk, coconut cream <a href=/user/bionaorganic/1>@bionaorganic</a> and blackberries in my refrigerator that needed to be finished. I combined all of it together with some raspberries, banana and a Tbs of ashwaghanda powder and a little bit of vanilla powder and made this smoothie. Then I added a bit of coconut kefir <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> and my freshly made dehydrated crispy granola. 
Ashwaghanda is an adaptogen, it helps to restore hormonal balance, improve thyroid and adrenal function, reduces stress, helps with anxiety and protects brain from degeneration. Furthermore it helps to increase stamina and endurance which is great for all us fitness lovers!

  • It has been raining for 2 days in London. I had a really crazy busy day, but not productively busy. I had to deal with things and I turned my house upside down trying to find a mouse. As I was walking my dogs in the rain, which wasn't unpleasant but rather refreshing, I kept thinking how beautiful the streets were when wisteria was still decorating the houses.

  • Crispy buckwheat, amaranth and protein waffles with nutty chocolate sauce and fruit.
I made these over the weekend using <a href=/user/pulsinandbeond/1>@pulsinandbeond</a> pea protein powder which I was told is the best type of protein for cooking as it can withstand the highest temperatures. I also used buckwheat and amaranth flour <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> and my freshly made cashew milk to make these gluten and dairy free. I sweetened them with a little bit of both rice syrup <a href=/user/clearspringuk/1>@clearspringuk</a> and date syrup <a href=/user/meridianfoods/1>@meridianfoods</a> which gave the waffles this lovely colour. The only other ingredients in these were a tsp of apple cider vinegar <a href=/user/bionaorganic/1>@bionaorganic</a>, aluminium free baking powder and bicarbonate of soda and a pinch of salt. Unfortunately I lost the exact measurements for the waffles but I will recreate them again soon and hopefully will get it all right so I can write down the recipe.

  • Rainy morning hibiscus infused rhubarb and coconut chia pudding.
I first poured a cup of boiling water over a handful of dried hibiscus flowers. Then I poured the tea, including the flowers into a pot of chopped rhubarb stalks <a href=/user/riverford/1>@riverford</a> ( I used 2). I mixed in a tsp of cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of vanilla bean powder and brought everything to boil. I cooked this for about 5 minutes, stirred in a tsp of arrowroot powder for thickening <a href=/user/wholefoodsuk/1>@wholefoodsuk</a> and a tsp of maple syrup and cooked for 10 minutes on a very low heat. Then I added a Tbs of freshly squeezed lemon juice. 
I soaked the chia in coconut milk overnight.
I just added some fresh strawberries and coconut flakes and I am looking at the pudding right now, contemplating if I should forget my intermittent fasting and just eat it now, because it smells delightful. Hopefully my work will distract me enough to be able to resist.

Chaturanga I incorporate #chaturanga in my daily workouts. Either as part of my vinyasa or as part of my core workout. I am not a yogini and I have to work really hard on my flexibility as I am naturally very tight. But yoga moves are great for rejuvenation and even people who don't practice yoga regularly or have never tried it would definitely benefit from it. Even if it is just something as simple as a breathing exercise. The way I incorporate chaturanga in my workouts is taken from dynamic yoga. I hold the pose for a prolonged period of time, alternating leg lifts. I also move from here to a high plank and back, then I stomp my feet, move my hips from side to side and up and down without moving the feet. I also do pulses in this pose for a prolonged period of time.
