Nothing like starting off this rainy dreary week with two great boxing classes! After an awesome turnout at the 4-5pm class, I was skeptical of the turnout for my night class but was blessed with two new faces and the return of the big man Kevin. These guys went absolutely ham on the bags and their all out burnouts were inspiring. (First time ever the guys outnumbered the girls in a class 🕺🏼 would love to see more of you guys out here to show em how it's done!) Special shoutout to <a href=/user/daddiemoan/1>@daddiemoan</a> for giving this class a shot! It was awesome working with her and crazy to think 6 hours early I was knocked out in her yoga class😴 Talk about Yin and Yang! Such a joy being surrounded by like-minded people, I'm really gonna miss this place this summer. ———————————————————————————

  • THE UNICORN DIET🦄
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽The key is I FEEL great, not looks or what other people say. I will never say I think I look great. I'm a constant improvement hence my motto 'Kaizen' and how I can point out in half a second at least 5 areas I want to make improvements but I FEEL better than ever and am enjoying life fuller than ever which I think is what this is all about. (I said this first to give the following weekend recap context.)

☝🏽Started the weekend off on Thursday night, yes <a href=/user/hreynoldsfit/1>@hreynoldsfit</a> out on a week night pretty freakin wild I know, where I learned how to swing dance dt to finally live up to the 🕺🏼 emoji I always use, one of the most fun times I've ever had. Friday I ate at BOTS (see last post) which I'm still in awe of how amazing it was, then had an entire 1.5qt of Double Dunker ice cream, pasta, and taco bell among other things. Saturday woke up to hit a boxing HIIT workout before headin to the gym for a back hypertrophy workout all finished by 11am. From there I tailgated the day away #gohokies #wewon #1-0. Finished the night off with some Reese's, Peanut M&Ms, and a pint of Ben &Jerrys Tonight Dough (11/10 recommend). Woke up feeling like a zillion bucks this morning to study this rainy day away for a test tomorrow morning. ———————————————————————————

You are looking at the most delicious and filling pork bbq cheesy tater tots topped w slaw. Swipe 👉🏽 to see the reason I won't have an appetite the rest of the day because this massive bowl of mac n cheese was topped with easily a half pound of more pulled pork and spicy bbq sauce. I have never been so happily overwhelmed with such unique and amazing combinations of foods. Bottom of the Stairs, you have changed the game. 🙌🏼

You might think after training back to back classes totaling over 30 people, I would be worn out for training my night #HReynoldsHIIT class. But you would be wrong. IT WAS POPPPPIN! 🔥 My voice is absolutely shot, my endorphins are savagely racing, and my love for what I do is sky high! At the end of the today, I've trained nearly 40 people which means in one way or another I have hopefully made a positive impact on that many people's day. The feeling from this is unlike any other. So blessed to do what I love another day. 🙌🏼 #thankyou 🎬<a href=/user/bustahwang/1>@bustahwang</a>

  • True change for yourself comes from within you, not from anyone else. 🙏🏽 Some words of wisdom on this dreary rainy humpday morning. Excited to take advantage of the rest of this rainy day by reading more of the great book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. Highly recommend you check this book out. Another beauty of getting that workout in before 8am, the rest of the day is always free to do whatever else floats your boat. Today that'll be reading and relaxing to the sound of birds chirping and rain falling. 🕺🏼

Holy wow I have never sweat so much in my life than the hot vinyasa flow style yoga class I just did at <a href=/user/inbalanceyogablacksburg/1>@inbalanceyogablacksburg</a> ! Spontaneously accepted the invite to go try this class out, for my second yoga class of the day, and it was incredible. I'm already a huge advocate for yoga, practicing 3 times a week, but this class reminded me how magical a hot yoga class can be. I loosened up 10x quicker than normal and felt amazing flowing through poses that typically would give me much more difficulty. 10/10 recommend checking hot yoga out and specifically this place if you're in the Blacksburg area!  And if you need a partner to try it out with, I'm your guy! But actually because I'm tryna go more often. 🙌🏼 #namaste #stayflexiblemyfriends

  • BUILDING MY METABOLISM ↗️
So my science + dietetics friend <a href=/user/kettlebel.kel/1>@kettlebel.kel</a> decided to put my numbers to the test of formulas she's learned in school for TEE and this what she found. At 6 ft tall, my BMR is 1938. Pretty standard. But when considering my activity level and food consumption level while maintaining weight, she said very active 1.8 activity factor for you = just sub 4k kcal and extra/very hard, which would normally be a very intense collegiate athlete, 2.5 activity = only 4845 kcal/d. So based on one of the most accurate measurements of TEE, mine is 4845 kcal/d. However I have proven to maintain my weight eating 5500-6000kcal/d. I did this while also consciously decreasing my activity level in an attempt to gain weight. Therefore, since my activity level was likely still high but not literally psycho activity level of 2.7 (highest on the equation is 2.5), the best explanation for my ability to maintain weight while eating above my TEE is that I have truly built my metabolism up. But how?
————————————————————————————➡️Now like building anything, my metabolism took time to develop. 4 years of tracking and experimenting. The first year was utter chaos of low calorie sub 2k fasted cardio no cheat meal insanity. The last 3 years, yes over 1,000 days, I have been slowly but surely increasing my caloric intake while simultaneously increasing my caloric expenditure. The more food I eat, the more energized I am, and the more motivated I am to do things: a) more caloric energy and b) I want to eat more and not be fat. ————————————————————————————✅Moral of the story: patience is the gamechanger. I didn't jump from eating 1800 kcal/d to 6000 over night. It took time. Lots of consistency and patience over the long run. Now I'm happier, healthier, and more balanced than ever mentally, physically, and spiritually. Put in the time for your body. After all, you only get one of them and if you don't take care of it, it will kill you. #tacotuesday #throwbacktuesday

What wakes me up every morning? How have I led #6amcrew without missing a week day all senior year? Its the inner drive to improve myself every day. That voice in my head that says why are you worthy today, what have you done to get better today? By starting my days with a workout, the first thing I do every single day is get better, improve from the previous day. This is crucial because it really doesn't mean shit what I did yesterday because guess what? It's in the past. It's gone. It's not coming back. What matters is this moment right now and what I am doing with it right now. Prove myself every single day. This gives me purpose and motivation to make the most of the precious time I have. That's how I wake up every morning, every week, every month, every year. #mondaymotivation #morningmotivation

  • AB WHEELS (swipe left for start to finish form)
One of the best exercises for building abdominal thickness and strength, but commonly executed poorly at the expense of your lower back. Try these cues next time: ———————————————————————— ✅ DO:
-set up in a table top position
-tuck chin down, keep spine flat
-round back/posteriorly tilt pelvis (tuck butt)
-engage core by flexing abdominals into lower spine
-maintain tucked chin and pelvis throughout roll out
-use upper abdominals to squeeze body back up to starting position
———————————————————————— ❌ DON'T:
-look up/ hyperextend neck
-arch lower back/ anteriorly tilt pelvis (pop butt)
-use upper body to compensate for unengaged core
-further tilt lower back throughout movement
-pull with arms/ shoulders/ lats to roll up to starting position ———————————————————————— 🕺🏼Start out with 3 sets of 5-10 reps
🕺🏼💃🏼 Advanced superset with planks while resting between 3 sets of 10 with a partner

  • REFLECTION🤔😴
I had the chance this evening to do that thing where you lay in bed with no more responsibilities to take care of except for thinking and reflecting. So I noticed it's already April 14th... we're nearly halfway through April and have one month of the semester left... last spring semester here in Blacksburg ever... graduating with one degree in four weeks... wait I'm graduating college? Crazy how fast but awesome the time flies here. This life at Virginia Tech is always changing yet always seems to get better and better.  Not for one second do I regret how busy I have been in my time here thus far; I can't imagine it any other way and I absolutely love the push to get so much done each day. I know the time will come, very soon, where I don't have nearly as much freedom as I do here to do whatever I want, whenever I want. That is what drives me each day and why I can sleep 5 hours and still be the most energized in the room. Now it's going to be rough seeing so many friends graduate and not come back with me next fall but I'm also so excited to have one more victory lap of a semester in this beautiful place. Training with #HReynoldsfit lives on one more semester! And to the seniors, we still have one more month to live it up soooo #LETSGETIT

Another night, another great session of work put in at my  #HReynoldsHIIT class! Special shouts to <a href=/user/sam_antha_hart/1>@sam_antha_hart</a> and <a href=/user/chlo__e___/1>@chlo__e___</a> for taking a break from singing beautiful sensations musical notes to get sweaty throwing haymakers on the heavy bags. As you can see by the heavy bags under my eyes, I need some sleep. Goodnight and #LETSGETIT again tomorrow, Thursday night, 815pm. It's gonna be wiiiiiiiiild. (PS my srat squat form is atrocious idk how y'all do it😂)

  • SQUAT GURUS GET AT ME⚠️
Seriously though, all critiques are encouraged. Trying to take what I've seen, read, and been told about proper squat form... keeping the pelvis tucked, not butt winking, elbows tucked under the bar, a hook grip, core tight, driving through the heels, hip hinge... so please if you have any advice at all let me know! First time in forever recording for the purpose of evaluating my form. Took the reps extra slow and my goodness did it suck, in the best way. But after a bunch of sets, honestly no clue how many I didn't count, of 3 slow controlled reps on squats I did the following simple hypertrophy focused workout:

🥓Triset: - SingleLegExt dropset DualLegExt 4x10
- Back Hypers Glute Focus 2x15
-  Sissy Squat 4x15

*somebody took the back hyper after 2 sets so I switched to GHD😅* Walking like an absolute bafoon but it's all good bc now I'm headin to the chiropractor for some E-Stim and spinal/ hip adjustments only to then head straight to my functional rehab after for some fascia releases and mobility work. Happy hump day! 🐫

    Form looks good buddy! One thing I've learned is to keep your weight balanced in the middle of your foot throughout the lift. This will help you to keep a more natural and neutral alignment in your pelvis and get through the full range of motion. Also keeping the weight in the mid-foot will allow you to drive off the floor using your entire foot instead of just driving through your heels which can allow for more power/stability coming out of the bottom. Just something for you to think about 🤘🏼

Another one of those nights where the final bell rang and I couldn't be more on top of the world. Energy level was at an all time high tonight thanks to <a href=/user/buzzard_fitness/1>@buzzard_fitness</a> and company. These guys went absolutely ham for their first time out; it was awesome to witness. Special thanks to James and Jess from <a href=/user/5starnutritionblacksburg/1>@5starnutritionblacksburg</a> for fueling everyone up with some knowledge and supplements before the workout. It was great having you guys there, multiple people mentioned how much they appreciated the added bonus of you guys. And to everyone who came out tonight and has ever come to even just one of my classes, thank you. So grateful to be able to train with you guys each week and do what I love. #HREYNOLDSHIIT round 2🥊 Nothing like starting off this rainy dreary week with two great boxing classes! After an awesome turnout at the 4-5pm class, I was skeptical of the turnout for my night class but was blessed with two new faces and the return of the big man Kevin. These guys went absolutely ham on the bags and their all out burnouts were inspiring. (First time ever the guys outnumbered the girls in a class 🕺🏼 would love to see more of you guys out here to show em how it's done!) Special shoutout to @daddiemoan for giving this class a shot! It was awesome working with her and crazy to think 6 hours early I was knocked out in her yoga class😴 Talk about Yin and Yang! Such a joy being surrounded by like-minded people, I'm really gonna miss this place this summer. ——————————————————————————— ♻️The final three weeks at BBF this semester are here so keep an eye out for some last chance deals to come try out a class! ♻️
